3430 Surface Moisture-Density Gauge
ImageThe Troxler Model 3430 gives you the fast, accurate and consistent results you need to fulfill the testing requirements on today's construction projects. The Model 3430 provides the basic features required for determining the density of asphalt, soil, aggregate or concrete and the moisture of soil or aggregate. It and the other gauges in the 3400 series have replaced conventional density test methods and have become the industry standard.

The Model 3430 offers you a choice of backscatter or direct transmission for density measurement and backscatter for moisture measurement. The gauge directly displays wet density, moisture, dry density, percent moisture, percent compaction, void ratio and percent voids in English or metric units.

3440 Surface Moisture-Density Gauge
ImageThe Model 3440 gives you the features you need for compaction control, but its enhanced capabilities make it a step above our basic Model 3430. The Model 3440 is used to measure the density of asphalt, soil, aggregate or concrete and the moisture of soil or aggregate. Density can be measured in either the backscatter or direct transmission mode and moisture is measured in the backscatter mode. The backscatter mode is ideal for concrete and hot asphalt, while direct transmission is the choice for 50 - 300 mm (2 - 12 inch) lifts of soil and aggregates.  Test results in as little as 1 minute allow additional compactive effort to be applied immediately if necessary.

3450 Surface Moisture-Density Gauge
ImageTroxler establishes a new standard for the construction industry with the totally new, totally different Model 3450 RoadReader Plus. It is the most versatile moisture/density gauge ever produced.  The RoadReader Plus combines the measurement modes proven in thousands of Troxler 3400 series gauges with a patented method for true thin layer asphalt and concrete bridge deck overlay density measurement. By combining thin layer and full depth measuring capabilities in one instrument, the RoadReader Plus is our flagship gauge in the 3400 series.  With its versatility, speed, and economy the RoadReader Plus is designed to satisfy your compaction control needs at every stage of your project.

3451 Enhanced RoadReader™ Plus
ImageTroxler's RoadReader™ Plus is the industry standard for a single unit that is capable of Thin-Layer, Backscatter, Direct Transmission, and Moisture measurements.  The only way to improve on this is to add easier operation and advanced electronics.  The new Model 3451 is designed with the latest electronic technologies.  The functions of the Model 3451 are completely controlled by a discrete hand-held PDA.  The operator can communicate with the gauge up to a range of 250 ft. This enables the operator to maintain adequate control over the operation of the gauge while standing away from the gauge.

What else could possibly be added to this device?  How about GPS which enables each stored measurement to include GPS coordinates along with the typical date and time stamp.  As measurement data is stored in the PDA controller, each reading automatically includes the GPS coordinates which can be re-traced to the exact location of the test within a few meters.

The programming and storage power of the PDA makes it possible to add many additional features.  The Model 3451 can easily be upgraded with any new software by simply connecting to a PC.

4640-B Surface Thin Layer Density Gauge
ImageRecognizing the need for an improved method of measuring the density of thin layer asphalt overlays, Troxler, the world leader in nuclear gauge technology, developed the first true thin layer density gauge, the Troxler Model 4640-B.

Designed to measure the density of thin asphalt and concrete layers from 2.5 to 10 cm (1 - 4 inches), the Troxler Model 4640-B Thin Layer Density Gauge accurately measures the overlay density without influence from underlying material. No nomographs or manual corrections are required in order to compute the true density of the overlay. With on-site results available in as little as one minute, the Model 4640-B can provide the user with test results when they are needed, not hours after compaction has been completed.
